The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas ruled in favor of the Department of the Treasury and FinCEN in the case of Samantha Smith vs. U.S. Treasury.
As a result of this decision, there is no current injunction preventing the enforcement of the Beneficial Ownership Information Report (BOIR) requirements. FinCEN has confirmed that the new filing deadline for the BOI report is March 21, 2025. However, the plaintiffs in the case may choose to file an appeal with the Supreme Court of the United States.
