MEET OUR PEOPLE

Fernando L. Carbonell, CPA

A Partner of the Firm and a Certified Public Accountant, Fernando holds a BBA in Accounting & Computer Sciences from Dayton University. He is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Colegio de Contadores Públicos Autorizados de Puerto Rico, and is an authorized CPA to do business in the state of Utah. Prior to joining the Firm, Fernando worked as a Senior Auditor at Deloitte Haskies & Sells (today Deloitte & Touche).

Currently, Fernando is a member of the board of directors of several non-for-profit organizations and specializes in qualified plans (KEOGH).

Francisco A. Carbonell, CPA

A Partner of the Firm and a Certified Public Accountant, Francisco holds a BBA in Accounting from Dayton University. He is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colegio de Contadores Públicos Autorizados de Puerto Rico. Prior to joining the Firm, Francisco worked as a Senior Tax Specialist and Senior Auditor at Price Waterhouse.

Currently, Francisco is the president of the board of directors of a non-for-profit organization, which he also founded. Also, he is the treasurer of a social club in Puerto Rico.

A Director of the Firm, José holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Puerto Rico and an MBA in Management from Metropolitan University. Prior to joining the Firm, José worked as a Tax Technician at the Puerto Rico Treasury Department.

 

Currently, he is actively engaged in the retirement benefit plans qualification and compliance process with the Puerto Rico and Federal authorities, the preparation of Puerto Rico and Federal income and estate tax returns, estate tax planning, Sales & Use Tax compliance, income tax audits, and consulting services.

 

José possess thorough experience with Foreign Grantor Trusts tax compliance issues, FATCA requirements for individuals and corporations, the IRS Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program (OVDP), and the DOL Employee Benefits Security Administration's Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program (DFVCP) for pension plans. Lately, he has been assisting Puerto Rico's Act 60 Grantee's with their local and Federal tax compliance issues.
